HB12-1280 Video Lottery Terminals For College Scholarships 
Comment: House Bill 1280 by Reps Coram (R-Montrose) and Sonnenberg (R-Sterling) would license no more than two lottery retailers to install and operate no more than three Video Lottery Terminal sites for each licensee. Each of the sites could operate up to 2,500 Video Lottery Terminals. Proceeds from sales at these terminals would go to the Colorado College Scholarship Fund, which is created in this bill.

HB12-1309 Colorado Mandatory E-verify Act 
Comment: House Bill 1309 by Rep Swalm (R-Centennial) would require the use of the federal E-verify program by all Colorado employers with any new hire. Employers would be required to us the program starting January 1st, 2013. It creates penalties of $5,000 for the first offense and $25,000 for the second, with another $25,000 and 6-month suspension of the establishment’s business license for each offense after the second.

SB12-003 Permissible Use Of Credit Information By Employers 
Comment: Senate Bill 03 by Sen Carroll (D-Aurora) will prohibit the use of an employee’s or potential employee’s credit information in hiring if unrelated to the job. This bill would require an employer to inform the employee if their credit information was used to take adverse action against the employee and would allow the employee to file a lawsuit if the employer used credit information inappropriately.
