16 HB22-1248 be amended as follows, and as so amended, be referred to
17 the Committee of the Whole with favorable
18 recommendation:

20 Amend printed bill, page 2, strike line 8 and substitute "(1) and (6); and
21 repeal (5) as follows:".

23 Page 2, after line 23, insert:
24 "(5) Subject to available appropriations, the state board shall
25 award a grant to the employer of each school principal who is selected to
26 participate in the program either as an exemplary high-quality school
27 principal who assists in providing professional development or as a
28 school principal who is selected to receive professional development. The
29 state board shall determine the amount of each grant based on the costs
30 that the employer is expected to incur as a result of the school principal's
31 participation in the program.
32 (6) The general assembly shall annually appropriate money UP TO
33 TWO HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS to the department for the
34 implementation of this part 2, including money to pay the costs of
35 designing and implementing the program, which may include the cost of
36 contracting with an entity as authorized in subsection (2) of this section.
37 and awarding grants as provided in subsection (5) of this section.".

39 Page 2, after line 27 insert:

41 "SECTION 4. Appropriation. For the 2022-23 state fiscal year,
42 $250,000 is appropriated to the department of education. This
43 appropriation is from the general fund and is based on an assumption that
44 the department will require an additional 1.2 FTE. To implement this act,
45 the department may use this appropriation for the school leadership
46 program.".
